Educators Fostering Future Readers Contest

To acknowledge hard working educators, the Dearborn Library Foundation has announced a contest for K-5 teachers who care deeply about literacy and lifelong learning. Teachers are challenged to explore the following prompt: “I want to introduce ‘this book title’ to my students in order to engage and enhance their desire to read.”

Who:

The “Educators Fostering Future Readers Contest” is open to K-5 teachers serving students who reside within the city limits of Dearborn.

What:

A contest for K-5 teachers based upon the following prompt: “I want to introduce this book to my students in order to engage and enhance their desire to read.”

How:

Complete an application form with contact information, a description of why you believe this book is an effective choice, and a concise lesson plan describing how the book will be introduced to students, three specific goals, and a closure activity. (See Application Form on next page.)

Where:

Send paper submissions to the Dearborn Library Foundation, 16301 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn, MI 48126.

When:

The due date is March 1, 2018. Postmarks will suffice to indicate applications are on time. Winners will be notified March 28, 2018.

How many teachers can win?

Up to three teachers can win cash awards of one thousand dollars ($1,000) each, along with one classroom set of each selected book.
