Dearborn Library Foundation Holds Its First Meeting
Dearborn Library Foundation holds its first meeting. The Foundation Board consists of Ann Knoop, Steve Roberts, Marge Bryer, Janine Brycz, Allison Fishwick, and Michael Nowlan.

Children’s Area Completed
The inaugural project of the Dearborn Library Foundation, the renovated Children’s area at the Henry Ford Centennial Library is completed.

Opal Ziemer Memorial Quilt
A quilt in memory of retired children’s librarian, Opal Ziemer, is hung in the children’s area at HFCL.

Demolition of Fountain at HFCL
The non-functioning fountain in front of HFCL is demolished in preparation for the construction of the Veterans Plaza.

Little Free Library Opens
The installation of a Little Free Library in our town’s new train station, the John D. Dingell Transit Station is completed. Brendan Hay, of Dearborn Boy Scout Troop #1147, volunteered to design and build the library. The library is designed to look like a locomotive and has room for nearly 300 books and 40 magazines.

Dedication of the Veterans Park and War Memorial
The City of Dearborn, in association with the Dearborn Allied War Veterans Council, held a dedication ceremony for the new site of its Veterans Park and War Memorial at the Henry Ford Centennial Library.

The D-Lab Opens for the Public
The Digitization Lab opens. The lab has the equipment to assist the public with image conversion to digital image formats, audio conversion to digital audio formats, and video conversion to digital video formats.

Remote Lockers Go Live at Salina
The remote lockers go live at Salina. Beginning with 28 locker spaces, by week three all lockers are regularly being used.

The Henry Ford Centennial Library undergoes a major renovation project and HVAC upgrade, displacing staff and library collection.
