Here’s all the info on the upcoming Esper Renovations closure:

Update from 11/18 City Council Meeting

The City Council has selected  the Construction Manager who will be overseeing the renovation project. Aaron Philips from McCarthy & Smith Inc. will be filling this role.

The Basics

The Esper Branch Library will be undergoing renovations beginning late September, marking the beginning of a new direction for the branch. During this time, Esper will remain closed to the public, however both the Henry Ford Centennial and Bryant Branch libraries will still be open. Once the renovations are complete, Esper will be transitioning into what is commonly known as a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) library, which summarized will mean that it will focus on collections, programming, and operations centered on those topics.

While Esper will continue to function within the Dearborn Public Library system, there will be noticable changes that intend to separate its function from our other branches. Many services will remain available at Esper, such as public computers with printing services and inter-branch pickups / holds.
