Maryanne Bartles

Library Director Maryanne Bartles is a long-time City of Dearborn employee and lifetime Dearborn resident. She began her career with the Dearborn Public Library in 1971 as a library clerk, later holding positions as an assistant librarian, a Librarian I and a branch supervisor. In 1993, she was named the administrative librarian for technical services, overseeing the upgrade of technology and improving public systems for customers. In 2002, she was named the Deputy Library Director and in 2006, the Library Commission appointed her as Director of the Dearborn library system.
Bartles holds a master’s in library science from the UM-Ann Arbor and a bachelor’s degree from UM-Dearborn.

Julie Schaefer

Julie Schaefer is the Deputy Library Director. Promoted to the position in 2006, she has also held positions as Administrative Librarian, Youth Services Supervisor, Branch Supervisor, Librarian I, and Assistant Librarian during her 25 year tenure with the City. Julie’s focus has always been serving customers well and providing the services and experience they expect from the public library.
Julie holds a B.A in education from UM-Dearborn and received her master of science in library science from Wayne State University in 1992.

Administrative Librarian
Patty Podzikowski

Patty Podzikowski is an Administrative Librarian. She has worked for the library system for 21 years, in many different positions. She has been an Assistant Librarian, a Children’s Librarian, a Cataloging Librarian and an Adult Services Librarian.
Patty received her Bachelor’s Degree from Madonna University and her Master’s Degree from Wayne State University. Working closely with the public and staff, she always strives to provide excellent customer service and a safe, pleasant atmosphere to all library visitors.
