What is the D-Lab?

The D-Lab is the Dearborn Library’s digitization lab. It’s purpose is to take old forms of media such as home movies or printed pictures and digitize them for safekeeping.

We can help with:

  • Image conversion (photographs, slides, negatives, prints) to digital image formats
  • Audio conversion (audio cassettes, vinyl records) to digital audio formats
  • Video conversion (VHS, VHS-C, DVD) to digital video formats

How to use the Digitization Lab:

  1. Make an appointment by calling the HFCL Reference desk at 313-943-2330, option 4.  Appointments must be made at least 1 day ahead of time.
  2. Bring in your original media as well as digital storage media (flash drive, DVDs, etc). DVDs and flash drives will be available for purchase at the checkout desk.

The D Lab is located on the third floor of the Henry Ford Centennial Library.

You will need a Dearborn library card in good standing to use the digitization service.
